Neck Lift

A neck lift is a surgical procedure designed to improve the appearance of the neck by removing excess skin. It addresses sagging, loose skin, and visible bands, reduces jowling whilst defining the jawline and creating a smoother, more defined contour. This procedure helps restore a more youthful, rejuvenated look to the neck area, enhancing overall facial harmony and boosting confidence.

FAQs

Is it right for me?

Brow lift surgery is a highly individualised procedure and may not be suitable for everyone. Dr Preketes will assess your condition and general health, and plan the treatment that is best suited to you.

Neck lift surgery may be a good option for you if;

  • You are physically healthy
  • You have realistic expectations as to what a neck lift can accomplish
  • You have excess skin along the jowls and under the chin creating the appearance of double chin.
What are the risks?

General risks and complications

All surgeries have potential risks and complications that can arise. Some generalised risks are:

  • Risks of anaesthesia including allergic reaction or potentially fatal cardiovascular complications such as heart attack
  • A blood clot in the deep veins of the legs (deep vein thrombosis), which can move to the lungs (pulmonary embolus) or to the brain and may be life threatening
  • Pain and discomfort
  • Allergic reaction to suture materials, tape adhesive or other medical materials and lotions if experienced can cause a delay in healing

Dr Preketes will discuss specific risks and complications during your consultations, however, for a more comprehensive list that relate to a Neck Lift, please see our Patient Resources.

Is there a Medicare rebate available?

Generally, Medicare does not cover cosmetic procedures like a neck lift, as they are considered elective and not medically necessary. However, if a neck lift is deemed medically necessary for a specific condition, it might be covered

Can I undergo Neck Lift with other surgeries at the same time?

In many cases, it is possible to undergo multiple cosmetic procedures at the same time depending on the other treatment and your surgeon’s recommendation. Combining procedures can reduce overall recovery time and minimise anaesthesia sessions.

How much down time is needed?

After a neck lift, downtime is usually around 2 weeks, during which most swelling and bruising will subside. Full recovery typically takes 4 to 6 weeks.
