Areolar and Nipple Correction Facts

Is it right for me?

Areolar and Nipple Correction surgery is a highly individualised procedure and may not be suitable for everyone. Dr Preketes will assess your condition and general health, and plan the treatment that is best suited to you.

A breast asymmetry correction may be a good option for you if:

  • You are physically healthy
  • You have realistic expectations
  • Your breasts are fully developed
  • Your breasts are significantly different in size (especially if more than one cup size difference)
  • Your breasts are significantly different in shape i.e. one is sagging and has lost its shape and firmness compared to the other breast
  • One breast is lower than the other

Remember that the shape and size of your breasts before surgery will influence the surgical procedure and the outcome.

What are the risks?

General risks and complications

All surgeries have potential risks and complications that can arise. Some generalised risks are:

  • Pain and discomfort
  • Allergic reaction to suture materials, tape adhesive or other medical materials and lotions if experienced can cause a delay in healing

Dr Preketes will discuss specific risks and complications during your consultations, however, for a more comprehensive list that relate to Areolar and Nipple Correction, please see our Resources Tab.

Is there a Medicare rebate available?

There a potential rebates available through Medicare and Private Health Insurance pending the surgery is deemed medically necessary. You will need to undergo a consultation to confirm suitability.

Can I undergo breast Areolar and Nipple Correction with other surgeries at the same time?

In many cases, it is possible to undergo multiple cosmetic procedures at the same time depending on the other treatment and your surgeon’s recommendation. Combining procedures can reduce overall recovery time and minimise anaesthesia sessions.
