Angelos’ Aesthetics
Internal and external factors cause changes to the surface of our skin as cell renewal slows down. Internally the natural substances that provide the skin with support, such as collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid, decreases over time as does the activity of the sebaceous glands, which reduce the skins ability to retain moisture and stay supple. Externally the single most important contributing fact to the appearance of ageing skin is believed to be sun damage (also called photoageing). This affects both skin texture and pigmentation.
Over time our facial muscles decrease in strength and tone reducing the amount of support they provide to the soft tissues above them. When we’re young our skin springs back easily into its initial position when we make facial expressions. However, as we age the repeated action of the facial muscles – combined with a loss of skin elasticity – means that the dynamic wrinkles (those formed during facial expressions) remain on the skin and form static wrinkles (the wrinkles and folds that are present at rest).
Overtime our wrinkles can be seen when our face is at rest which is referred to as static wrinkles. Our skin loses elasticity and volume as we age with a depletion of fat around the cheeks, forehead and eyes this is caused by a decrease in collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid. Other factors also contributing to this affect is sunlight, smoking and stress.

Microdermabrasion is a light cosmetic procedure that uses a mechanical medium for exfoliation to gently remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells from the epidermis which assists in the stimulation of cell turnover which typically regenerates at approximately 28-30 day intervals.
Skin improvement with microdermabrasion is temporary and needs to be repeated at average intervals of two-four weeks for continued improvement. Multiple treatments in combination with sunscreen, sun avoidance, and other skin care yields best results. It is a non-invasive procedure and may be performed in-office by a trained skin care professional.
Makeup and non-irritating creams can usually be applied within a few hours or right after microdermabrasion. Since there is an often immediate increased minor skin sensitivity after microdermabrasion, irritating products like glycolic acids, [Alpha Hydroxy Acid], Retinoid products are not to be used within 72 hours of your procedure. Typical microdermabrasion sessions can last anywhere from 30–60 minutes. Minimal to no recovery time is required after microdermabrasion and most people immediately return to daily activity.
Facial Peels
Facial peeling consists of the application on the skin of exfoliating agents to obtain first, destruction and then regeneration on part of the epidermis and/or dermis. Chemical peels produce a controlled wound that will result in cell renewal that may assist with sun damage, pigmentation, acne lesions, fine lines and wrinkles and superficial depressed scars. Depth and results depend on the strength of the agents used.
TCA (Trichloracetic Acid) 20% & 30%
Trichloracetic acid being the active ingredient and known for it medium depth peeling effect. The percentage of a TCA peel, which can range from 15% – 50% strengths is used for different skin concerns. A lower concentration of TCA solution such at 15% > 20% is used for superficial skin concerns, whereas a higher concentration 30% – 50% is used for relatively deeper concerns and found to be more effective. The benefits of a TCA peel reduces/removes dead or dull skin layers making you look younger and healthier with the signs of aging much less. Multiple treatments are required to experience satisfactory results.
